Uzma Choudhary, A Bakarwal Girl From Mendhar Scores 94 % | Pir Panjal Post

Poonch: Uzma Choudhary, a Bakarwal girl from Parat village of Tehsil Mendhar of District Poonch scores 94 % marks in her class 10th, the result of which was declared by the Board on May 07, 2019.

Uzma Choudhary

Uzma, the daughter of Fazal Ahmed and Ruksana Bi, was a student of DPS Jammu.

"I am very exited to see my parents happy. I thank Allah for this" said Uzma while talking to the Pir Panjal Post.

It is pertinent to mention here that, Uzma Choudhary belongs to the Bakarwal community, which is the one of the most marginalised communities across India. Bakarwals are the transhumants who move from one place to another in search of food and water along with their herds. They move from mountains to the valleys and comparatively warmer areas in winter and return to the mountains during summers.

The community which Uzma belongs to have the lowest literacy rate in Jammu & Kashmir and even the reservation given to the community has not fetched the desired results so far.

Girls like Uzma are a ray of hope for the community.

Pir Panjal Post wishes Uzma all the best for all her future endeavours.
