The program was inaugurated by Chairman Prof. Shabir Hussain Shah Principal GDC Mendhar, Chief guest Prof. Rani Mughal and Guest of honour Dr. Abdul Raouf Coordinator IQAC GDC Mendhar. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Hassan Jaleel from the Department of Botany. Dr. Mahroof Khan HOD Botany discuss the aims and objectives of the societies. Chief guest Rani Mughal, Associate Professor Department of Botany, GDC Poonch who also worked on the taxonomical studies of aboreal flora of District Poonch is daughter of Mr. Mohd Bashir Mughal Retd. Divisional Forest Officer and a great Environmentalist of the Pir Panjal region. She deeply admired her father for imparting her with the unique knowledge of indigenous plants of the district. She also appreciated the faculty members of both departments and especially Dr. Mahroof Khan not only for his passion for research work but for maintaining the botanical garden of campus by growing medicinal and other rare species.
Prof. Mujahid Mughal Department of Geography GDC Poonch also share ideas about the importance and impacts of such societies in today’s era.
Chairman of the event Prof. S.H.Shah also appreciated the both departments and assured any type of support from the College as well as by his own. Chairman further stressed on intensive floristic surveys and collecting accurate and detailed information on the occurrence, distribution, ecology , economic utility of plants, physiography, climate, and role of mankind in the sustainable development of Pir Panjal region and its adjoining area. The life time membership was given to Prof. S.H. Shah, Dr. Abdul Raouf, Prof. Rani Mughal,Prof. Sarshad Hussain, Prof. Javed Manzoor, Prof. Mujahid Mughal, Prof. Basharat Ali, Dr. Hassan Jaleel, Prof. Suhail Mir, Prof. Rayaz Ahmed and Prof. M. Qasim Mir.
All the other teaching staff members of the college and students of Botany and geography were present in the event
