Department of Geography, GDC Poonch Organises Symposium on “Role of Women in Shaping the Modern World” to Commemorate Sir Syed Day, 2022

 

Poonch: The Department of Geography, Shri Krishan Chander Govt Degree College Poonch Organised a Symposium on the topic “role of women in shaping the modern world” on October 17, 2022 to commemorate Sir Syed Day, wherein more than 100 students participated. The programme was moderated by Ruchika Sudan, a student of semester I.  In total 7 students namely Iram Zehra, Kavleen Kour, Mussarat Nayeem, Mujtaba Mushtaq, Murtaza Mushtaq,  Musharaf Shah and Nazam Khan spoke on different aspects of the topic of symposium in Urdu, English and Hindi, after the welcome address, by Ms. Sonika Sudan, lecturer in Geography. 

The occasion was also graced by Mr. Yograj Singh, lecturer in Geography and Mr. Atal Bharti, HOD Physics, GDC Poonch. 

Ms. Kaneez Fatima Rathore, an alumnus of the Department of Geography, shared her experiences of her pursuit of education and stay at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh apart from acquainting the participants with the Department of Geography, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh.

Dr. Tabassum Naz. Assistant Professor of Zoology, GDC Poonch, and an alumnus of AMU shared her experiences on socio cultural life of AMU, apart from emphasizing the role of education in women empowerment. 

Dr. Mujahid Mughal, Head Department of Geography, extended formal vote of thanks and encouraged students and appreciated teaching and non teaching staff of the Department for organizing the event successfully. 

The programme began with documentary screening and  concluded with the recitation of AMU Tarana.
