Poonch: The Department of Geography, Government Degree College Poonch organized a Geographical Model Making Event on various themes of Physical Geography and Human Geography on October 06, 2022 for the students of B.A/B.Sc semester I.

In total 13 teams namely Earthquake (Nazaqat Hussain Shah, Suhail Hussain Shah, Abbas Ahmed, Ridham Palotra, Mohd Sajjad) Save Earth (Asma Akhter, Prachi Sharma, Saima Kouser, Novika Bali, Ikhlaq Hussain), Tsunami (Mohd Owvais Farooq, Mohd Nazam Khan, Mohd Saqib Aftab, Yogita Sharma, Saima Afroz, Musarat Naz), Cyclone (Tasleem Rizwan, Mohd Irshad, Naseem Akram, Latif Ahmed, Waseem Ul Hassan), Tornado (Sajjad Ahmed, Mohd Musharaf Shah, Mohd Sajjad, Parvaiz Ahmed, Rabia Kohli), Thunderstorm (Mujtaba Mushtaq, Umar Ul Rehman, Iqra Mashooq, Masood Akram, Mussarat Nayeem), Ganga (Ritika Verma, Noreen Bi, Nayeem Kouser, Vanshika Dutta), Continent (Hafshah Shamim, Nayeer Murtaza, Sofia Hafiz, Kamran Fareed, Sakshi Sharma) Volcano (Tamina Falak, Shamila Akhter), Solar System (Sahil Sharma, Bhanu Partap Sudan, Mohd Aijaz, Mohd Toyab, Mubashir Hussain, Umar Rathore), Landscape (Ramandeep Kour, Sneha Sharma,Gaganeet Kour, Suneha Shaerma), Lava (Ruchika Sudan, Sabha Taj, Gurpreet Singh, Saqib Naseer Manhas) and Pir Panjal (Abida Kouser, Harsimran Singh, Sahil Sharma, Bhanu Partap Sudan) participated in the event.
Ms. Sonika Sudan and Mr. Yograj Singh, Lecturers in Geography assisted students throughout the event. In order to encourage the participants, the teachers of the Department of Geography including Ms Sonika Sudan, Mr. Yograj Singh and Dr. Mujahid Mughal also joined team Pir Panjal in the preparation of a regional model showcasing physiography and administrative boundaries of district Poonch.
Mr. Sadiq Hussain, Laboratory Assistant, Mr. Mohd Akhter and Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, multitasking staff members of the Department backed the event by keeping the laboratories fully functional as per the needs of the participants.
The participants were notified about the event on September 26, 2022. “The model making event is being consistently organised from the past few years in the Department to inculcate among students a deeper understanding of Geographical phenomena that shapes human societies across the globe”, said Dr. Mujahid Mughal, Head, Department of Geography, Shri Krishan Chander Govt Degree College Poonch. Dr. Mujahid Mughal appreciated the efforts of the students, the faculty and the supporting staff for making the event successful. SKC GDC Poonch is all set for NAAC review on October 12-13, 2022.
