A signature campaign demanding university campus in Poonch was held today on March 03, 2018, by the students of Government Degree College Poonch. Students expressed that a campus of Jammu University which was to be carved out at Poonch, is being postponed for the reasons best known to the government. The foundation stone for the campus was laid in 2006, by the then CM Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed. Students further expressed that "Poonch is a forsaken region of J&K and has always been ignored by the successive governments". "A university campus in district will boost the rate of higher education in this far flung area" they further maintained.
