Government Degree College Mendhar organises Extension lecture on Women Empowerment

As a regular feature of college activities, an extension lecture was organised by Mendhar Chemical Society in collaboration with Women Development Cell, Government Degree College Mendhar. Mrs Azra Mufti, author and researcher, delivered an interesting, meaningful and thought provoking lecture on “Women Empowerment in Indian Context: Opportunities and Challenges”.


The lecture was attended by staff and students of the college. Also present on the occasion were Dr Abdul Raouf, Convener IQAC; Dr Rehfit Naaz, Convener, Women Development Cell; Ms Sabeha Mufti, former HR manager of Noora Hospital and a research scholar also graced the occasion with her presence. Among other staff members of the Government Degree College Mendhar. 
In his welcome address, Dr Shakeel Ahmed, Assistant Professor of Chemistry introduced Mrs Azra Mufti as an author, social worker, and an active campaigner for social issues. He also complimented Mrs Mufti for choosing a pertinent topic.

Mrs Azra Mufti highlighted some of the important challenges related to women empowerment. She talked about some of the leading women of the world who have done tremendously well in different fields,She further discusses the socio-economic and political status of women in India. She also talked about domestic violence, dowry death, sex ratio, women trafficking.   Her lecture was very innovative and informative.  During the interaction, Mrs Azra answered the queries of students and exhorted them to show their devotions to their studies. She praised the faculty members of the college for taking interest in these activities. 


Mrs Azra Mufti was awarded certificate of appreciation for her outstanding contribution to inspire youth of state and women.  A formal vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Shokit Hussain, Head Department of Chemistry, Government Degree College Mendhar.
