Mendhar: An Inter-Collegiate Quiz was organised by Department of Geography, GDC Mendhar, Mendhar on April 5, 2018. In total five colleges participated in the contest including GDC Poonch, GDC Mendhar, GDC Thana Mandi, GDC Surankote and Muqadas College. Students of Poonch College bagged the first position, whereas the students of GDC Mendhar bagged the second position.

The contest was followed by extension lectures by Mujahid Mughal, Shahid Zafar (Assistant Professors, GDC Poonch) and Khalid Rayaz (Assistant Professor, GDC Thana Mandi). Mujahid Mughal spoke on the contributions of Arab Geographers to Science and Society whereas Shahid Zafar talked about the interdisciplinary nature of Geography and Economics. Khalid Rayaz discussed about the contest and development of Geography in J&K.
Zulfikar Ali Shah (HOD Geography, GDC Mendar) speaking on the occasion focused on the role of Geography in understand the real world situations. Professor Shabbir Hussain Shah (Principal GDC Mendhar) spoke on the importance of Geography and Role of Arab Geographers in Renaissance of Europe.
