Dr Amjad Ali Babar: The Poet And His Poetry | Pir Panjal Post

Dr. Amjad Ali Babar, 40 was born and brought up in the Chella Dhangri village of Mandi Tehsil, in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). He studied at Govt Middle School Chella up to class 8 and passed out from Govt Higher Secondary School (Boys) Poonch as +2 graduate. He studied Political Science, Philosophy, Urdu and English in Govt Degree College Poonch as a B.A student.

He earned his Masters in Urdu from the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu, Jammu and worked on "Mughni Tabassum: Shakhsiyat aur Shaiyri" for his Doctoral thesis under the supervision of Late Professor Nusrat Ara Choudhary ( a  poet), in the same department.

Dr. Babar who has a diploma in "Journalism and Mass Communication" is an M.A. in History too.

He began his teaching carrier as an RET (Rehbar e Taleem) teacher in his native village Chella Dhangri. But very soon he qualified as an inter-college Urdu lecturer and served in various schools across J&K.


In the meanwhile, Dr. Babar was selected as an Assistant Information Officer too. But his love for the Urdu language and teaching didn't allow him to join the said department. He, therefore, continued with his teaching and research. In the year 2017, he joined the Department of Higher Education, Govt of Jammu and Kashmir as an Assistant Professor in Urdu. At present, he serves at one of the prestigious colleges of the state i.e. Govt Degree College Poonch.

Dr. Babar occasionally writes columns for the leading Urdu Dailies and of the state and online portals like Pir Panjal Post too. He is one of the finest researchers of Urdu in the state and has published his work in various reputed journals of Urdu.

Dr. Babar started writing Urdu ghazals during his college days but stopped writing later on due to some reasons known to him only. 

It was only in 2017, that looking at his poetry composed during college days, his friends and colleagues encouraged him to continue with it. 

He thereafter, participated in many poetry recitals of the state and is popular in the literary circles of the state.

Babar's work revolves around different issues concerning our society. According to him,
poetry takes the birth from the "accidents and sorrows" of human life.



Pir Panjal Post is a blogging outlet which aims at educating people and creating awareness on the issues concerning human society like Education, Politics, Economics, Science, art and literature. The main focus of this blog is on encouraging the budding writers, poets, painters, calligraphers, photographers etc. Besides, it intends to serve the vernacular languages.
