Digital barrier overcome at Warwan Valley

Warwan valley is a remote area falling in mountainous district Kishtwar. Warwan despite having a tehsil status lacks almost every basic amenity of modern life.  There is no electricity or telecommunication system in place even after 70 years of independence it remains physically cut-off from the rest of the world during winters.

However Chinar International created history by connecting this remote area to the digital world for the first time by successfully installing a VSAT terminal at Mulwarwan village of Warwan valley. It is pertinent to mention here that Chinar International in collaboration with Warwan Valley Eco-tourist Society (WVETS) has been actively involved in running community centers for improving education and have registered more than 600 students under this scheme covering four villages, Viz. Mulwarwan, Margi, Dasbal and Batta.

Through this VSAT terminal, these community centers will now access the internet (satellite internet) and these centers will work as community service centers in future. This shall go a long way in bridging the digital divide that separated Warwan from rest of the world. Now, these community centers will have access to global learning content which shall facilitate the local children’s to quickly catch-up with the rest of the world.

Chinar International has also set up Smart TVs at these community centers so that the trained community volunteers can use this digital content in conducting winter classes.

Speaking to Pir Panjal Post Dr. Zahoor Ahmed said, this venture is a watershed moment for Warwan Valley and thanked Chinar International for their selfless effort in breaking this digital barrier. He further said this is surely going to make a huge impact in transforming the socio-economic conditions of the local populace in times to come.

Chinar International under the leadership of Irfan Shahmiri (Global CEO), Khalid Ashai (Chairman, US directorial board) and Aijaz-Bin-Shabir (Project Coordinator) with local support from Dr. Zahoor A. Wani (Founder, WVETS) has been proactively spearheading this joint venture in Warwan Valley since last two years.
