Tazeem Akhter is currently working as Assistant Professor in Economics in School of Management and Economics at BGSB University. She completed her M.A. in Economics in 2016 from University of Jammu. Besides being a University Rank Holder with a gold medallist for her bachelors, she is also a JRF awardee (December 2014 and June 2015) and JKSLET qualifier (May 2016).
Her focus areas have been International Trade, International Political Economy and Labour Economics. She has taught International Political Economy in University of Jammu for a brief period as a part of her JRF requirements before joining BGSBU as a permanent faculty. She has always been keen to portray the socio-economic conditions of people through her writings which are published in various national and local dailies.
Throughout her student life, she represented her institution, state and country in various national and international level essay competitions. Being a winner of an Essay Competition organised by British High Commission, she also visited the United Kingdom for a week. She is also an Annual Member of Indian Economic Association and Indian Society of Labour Economics.
She has participated and presented research papers in one state-level conference, five national-level and one international-level conferences. She has attended a number of national seminars and has also undergone a ‘Course on Research Methods in Labour Studies’ in V.V.Giri National Labour Institute from May 29-June 09, 2017. She teaches Microeconomics, Managerial Economics and International Political Economy to post-graduate students. She intends to do her research on tribal-economy, labour-migration and international trade.
