Workshop Organised by the Department of Geography, SKC GDC Poonch


Poonch: The Department of Geography, Shri Krishan Chander Govt Degree College Poonch organised a one day workshop today on July 25, 2022 on Surveying in Geography for Semester IV students of the department. Dr Zulafqar Ali Shah, HOD Geography, Govt Degree College Mendhar being the chief guest and expert for the event, spoke at length on the importance of Practical Geography in curriculum and competitive exams across the country. He also deliberated on the paradigm shift in practical Geography, with the advancement in cartographic techniques and methods. 



Speaking to the students and faculty of the Department of Geography, Dr Shah stressed on the need to reinforce the importance of cartography in real life situations and the course components of curriculum. After his detailed lecture, Prof Shah also accompanied students to the field for carrying out Chain and Tape Survey. 

Dr Mujahid Mughal, Assistant Professor of Geography, SKC GDC Poonch introduced Dr Shah to the participants by a brief welcome note at the commencement of the programme and delivered vote of thanks  at the end of the workshop. Mr Yograj Singh, Lecture in Geography assisted Dr Shah throughout the workshop in all activities. The occasion was also graced by Prof Khadam Hussain, HOD Geography, and Prof M. H. Shah, Principal SKC GDC Poonch.
